Highwood School - Chinese Bilingual Program K-4
Highwood School will be hosting an Open House on January 9, 2025 beginning at 6:30 PM. Our open house is intended for families considering enrolling their child in the Chinese (Mandarin) bilingual program (Kindergarten to Grade 4) for the 2025-2026 school year. Please check the CBE website as to which areas are designed to Highwood School, as we only accept students from households that are designated to Highwood. If you are interested in applying to Highwood School, parents/ legal guardians will need to complete an online registration form that will also require you to complete a section regarding applying to alternative programs (which Highwood is).
Please note that we accept new registrations for our Mandarin program and parents do not need to know the language. We also accept registrations in the Mandarin program for older children (Grades 2-4) who can demonstrate a suitable level of proficiency in the Mandarin language to be successful at their grade level (assessment required).
If we receive registrations beyond our capacity, a lottery will be held to determine which students can attend the school.
The priorities for acceptance are as follows:
Priority 1
- Students residing within the walk zone who have a sibling that will be attending in the same program in the same school at the same time
Priority 2
- Students living outside the walk zone who will have a sibling in the same school at the same time OR
- Students living within the walk zone who do not have a sibling in the school
Priority 3
- All other students living in the designated attendance area
